Once everyone has accepted the script, the production preparation process begins. In the case of animation, this means sending design drawings, color combinations, potential narrator voices, and character designs. It is important to agree on everything in advance – fixing an animation afterwards is an expensive and slow process. In the case of shot advertising films, the process is much more complex, in which caselocations, actors, and props have to be approved well before the shoot. Photos are taken of everything and sent to the client.
The production process is different in each case, but in all cases we aim for continuous communication with clients, sending partial versions and photos of each stage of the film’s production. We ask a lot of questions especially at the beginning of the collaboration until the shared vision is finally solidified. If they have also ordered a shoot, we always recommend that the client be present at least at the beginning. Collaborative shoots are usually pleasant and have a good atmosphere, but it is still important that we can immediately accept professional comments and advice and, if necessary, shape the shoot accordingly. The production of an animation consists of animating scenes, which is a much slower process to require the constant presence of the client. Here, the established practice is to send you the current status of the animation ad daily or every two days.
Our philosophy is to keep everyone informed about decisions, phases, and if something is not satisfactory, the client can immediately signal it. So when the film is finished, no one is surprised, everyone knows that this is what it was about all along.
The animation or shooting phase is followed by the audio production process. This typically means narration, music, and sound effects. Our primary narrators are in Hungarian and English. We send material about each potential candidate and also make a recommendation for who we consider the most suitable. If none of them win your favor, there is no problem, several professional sites deal with the intermediation of narrator voices. We can also organize narrators in languages other than English and Hungarian, but in this case the client must cover the translation of the narration.
We have several music composer partnerships that help provide truly unique magic for corporate animations and commercials. However, music composers are not always justified, as their disadvantage is that if the composed music does not appeal, it is difficult to fix it and they are also more expensive. The most common thing is that we give you music suggestions from one of the sites we recommend. The great advantage of this is that we can insert the music into the finished film before payment, so you can listen to it without obligations.
The next phase is foley. This is an optionally dispensable process, but we always highly recommend it. Even a basic foley adds serious realism and dynamics to the cuts and adds an additional subconscious layer of meaning to the material.
The process is closed by the cut. This is when the work receives its final rhythm, tempo, and character. Many customer requests deal with the potential length of films. Our suggestion here is the following: if the client is not motivated, that is, they come across a particular advertisement on the internet, then the material should be as short as possible and preferably contain a few key pieces of information within the first 10 seconds. If the viewer’s situation is fixed and the viewers are more motivated, for example, they are already sitting in a conference, longer materials can be confidently produced. Whether in this way or that, we only allow films to be made over 2 minutes in very justified cases, as this is the length that marks the upper tolerance limit for a wide range of viewers.
