Cost-effective Animation for Regional Television: The Renovation of Pomáz TV

The creation of animation requires significant production time and expertise, which is why it is not always one of the most cost-effective film processes. This is one of the reasons why rural television stations in Hungary, which prioritize their budget differently, are not always able to keep up with the times at the level of their branding. The renovation of the Vásárhelyi Television was such a positive experience for us that we decided to create a program that would give rural television stations and regional programs the opportunity to modernize and renovate their branding in a cost-effective way.

Although there are significant financial differences between animation visual worlds and technologies, the requirement for professionalism, expertise, and cleanliness should be inherent in all completed animations. Unfortunately, this is not something that many current Hungarian animation companies and studios adhere to, causing significant quality dilution in the lower budget market. The production of Pomáz TV’s new visual identity was motivated by the desire to create a design that brings a modern standard expected from a prestigious television at an affordable price.

From the television logo to the studio backgrounds, everything was replaced and a completely new look was given to the channel. Implementing the animations into the television’s own production process was a significant challenge, as local colleagues had limited opportunities to operate the animated content. The development of a flexible new production method that satisfied everyone took almost a month. We also created an animation that could be shaped and formed by the customer with the help of a cutting program only, in case of need, so there is no need to outsource the work again.

The simple 3D geometric visual world we created for Pomáz TV’s programs represents a stable and long-lasting style value and will not need to be replaced for a good while. We hope to have the opportunity to help regional televisions, which have less advertising and financial opportunities but are still important in terms of content, make their animations more qualitative in the future.
